The photograph above shows ten inches of new pink fiberglass insulation being installed in between the joists on our flat roof. This makes the roof R30. This was done before the solar panels were installed. The grey boards at the top of the picture are the rigid foam “ISO Boards” that will go on top of the joists. There are two layers of ISO boards each two inches thick. This adds R20 to the roof making it in total R50, which is very well insulated.
